“Youth is not a time of life – it is a state of mind. It is a temper of the will; a quality of the imagination; a vigor of the emotions; it is a freshness of the deep springs of life. Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over a life of ease… Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years; people grow old by deserting their ideals.”
So I’m going home to Ottawa on Canada Day to see my parents and basically try to stalk Will & Kate. (more so the latter…)
I was also informed a few weeks ago that my BEST FRIEND (of 18 years)’s little brother has been chosen to hand a flower over to none other than KATE FRICKIN’ MIDDLETON. Basically, they needed “visible minority” children to do the job and being Asian and 10 years old gets you right into that category. Lucky kid!
"OMFG" was basically my reaction for 45 minutes as I was in shock/glee/jealousy. I was so excited to go finally meet the Royal couple (or at least see them from a distance) My best friend and I basically discussed what we should wear and how we could get as close to the couple as possible.
THEN - today, i was told only ONE adult can accompany him. ONE? Of course it HAS to be my best friend. She even changed her flight date to China just for this moment. I am absolutely devastated as she’s not even informed where the location is. That’s how top secret it is! Anyways… that brings an end to my stalking plan.
In other related (royal) news, Harry was asked about his relationship with Pippa and was quote “Pippa? Ha! No I’m not seeing anyone at the moment. I’m 100% single” SWWWWWOOOOON. There’s still a chance ladies! (And thank god he’s not dating Chelsea, YUCK)
When did that phrase become so popular? (friendlier version of STFU?) I first heard it on a trailer/preview of Bad Teachers (which I really want to see regardless of how stupid it looks) and thought it was pretty funny but I heard it at least 10 times at the cottage this weekend and now I’m seeing it all over the internet! Hilarious - definitely going to take it under my wing. It still makes me giggle hearing it. I know, I’m a nerd.
Cottaging this weekend was fun! 7 of us rented a huge cottage (see pic) and it was soooo nice. We got our own private dock with a speedboat, pedal boat AND canoe. It was amazinggg despite the shiteous weather we had on Saturday. Sunday made up for it by providing me with a nice goldish-brown tan. That’s actually incredible considering a few years ago, i had a sun allergy (yes, an ALLERGY to the sun. So ridiculous). I used to burn everywhere despite the copious amounts of sun screen I put on - one time, my eyelids and mouth burnt so badly that I couldn’t open my eyes or mouth for 3-4 days. Anyways, good times all around with good people. I love Muskoka and cottaging, that’s the benefits of spending summers in Canada.
But I guess the benefits of me spending my August this year in Europe will be…hmm…let’s see… Eiffel Tower, Swiss Alps, Venice Canals, Greek Islands.
Generally, I am too scattered of a person to dedicate 30 minutes a couple of times a week to blog. I used to be obsessed with livejournal back in the day but could never really get into any other blogging site. Plus livejournal was mostly an outlet to bitch about people and things anyways.
However, since I’m going to Europe for a month in less than 6 weeks, I figured I should probably start blogging so I can keep track of my trip. Plus, after following my good friend, amykw for the last few months and thoroughly enjoying every single one of her posts, I decided I really should start posting random cool thoughts/items so here I am! Hopefully, I can keep this up!
